My gravid girl is having surgery Thursday because her eggs are an abnormal shape and seem stuck to her uterus. My vet says that they've had about 10% fatality rate for leos who undergo this surgery. I'm very worried and wondering if anyone has experience with this surgery?

one of mine will be going in for the same thing tomorrow. The vet doing my girl is going to spay her in the process so it dosnt happen again. I would say maybe it depends on the vet and the animal its self? there are always risks in surgery though.
Ive had surgery for diffrent things done on two of mine and they came out fine from the anesthetics :)

She was fine through the surgery and the vet said she'd started bouncing back really well after the anesthesia. Unfortunately, she passed suddenly a couple hours after her surgery. The vet isn't 100% sure what happened, but he suspects that the stress of the surgery combined with her impaired health from the rotting eggs were too much for her. Absolutely breaks my heart; I sobbed like a child. RIP Luna :main_no:

Sounds like it was just her time. Take solace knowing that it would have been a lot worse for her if you didn't care enough to take her to the vet in the first place. Sorry for your loss.

So sorry. Obviously I know how you're feeling. But as you said before, we chose what was best for them and the rest was out of our control. RIP to our lovely ladies :'(

agreed, however i feel slightly let down by my vet.
she went in to the vets last thursday and was there all weekend till yesterday morning when she passed. they that 4+ days to operate but kept posponing the surgery because the had more "urgent" things to do, which ended up costing her, her life :,(

That's terrible to hear... I can't imagine how upset that would make me just wondering if she could have made it if they had gone through with the surgery sooner. I hope you have a fast grieving period and that your vet apologizes or offers better explanation
