We just moved back to Colorado after living in Kansas for 10 (long) months. One of the best parts about that for me is that since I'm back to working in Boulder, I get to hike in the mountains (well, foothills) on my lunch hour. Yesterday, I ran across several of these little guys - which is very interesting because in years' past, I rarely saw any reptiles while hiking.

This guy was large (probably about 4" from nose to butt, not including tail), and had blue tinges on his side. There was a female (smaller, brown, so I assume) one rock further down the hill, but my phone just couldn't do it to take a photo. Once the male ran off from where I photoed him, he chased after her and was doing his head-bobbing thing (well, more like whole-body bobbing - it was like he was doing push-ups) and the female would arch her back, look down, and bob her body. They circled each other several times, but nothing else. I was getting all excited to video tape wild lizard nookie, but no dice. Close, though! The female was so cute and petite, and such a pretty brown/tan. They're so FAST, too, especially compared to the mostly lumbering, laid-back Leos.
