Swollen (possibly broken) toe?

Hey, guys!

In need of some advise and help with what is going on with my leo and how serious it is. First some info on the gecko: he's 3 months old and was a present from a friend, I have him since he was around 2 weeks or so. He's from a breeder. Very curious and outgoing, doesn't mind being held and actually wants to receive attention. He's in a standard 10 gallon tank on paper towels, warm and cold side hides (90 to 77 with a hot spot from a UTH in the warm side), dish with pure calcium in the tank and water dish, which is cleaned and refilled daily. Has been eating and pooping daily, prefers crickets, but doesn't mind the occasional mealworm or 2-3-4 if I decide it's time to change the daily menu.

Approximately 10 days ago the front of his toe got stubbed - just the tip of the actual toe, along with the nail. The same thing happened around a month ago one night and while I was freaking out and searching for a vet to visit in the morning, he managed to fix it on his own in just a few hours. When it happened now, it seemed a little better the next day, but the toe was still crooked. I consulted with a local breeder, who told me he should be going into shed soon (which I expected to happen either way, as he was supposed to) and he did. He shed just fine, I actually caught him in the act and got to watch the whole thing for the first time. Now, after the shed, the toe still looks crooked, the nail is sort of to the side and it's rather swollen. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it and he even let me poke it gently with a q tip, but it still bothers me that it looks like that. Eating, pooping and everything else hasn't changed. He is still very outgoing and you can tell he want to be held. When I get my hand in the tank, he usually goes towards it and climbs on his own, I don't have to grab him to take him out. Even though the toe is on his front paw, he doesn't have any issues with his grip - he climbs the full length of my arm and cuddles on my shoulder. I've only once seen him actually pay attention to the toe - he liked it a little for a couple of minutes and then held the entire leg still in the air for another few minutes. Then he returned to not acknowledging it .

He has an analogue thermometer in the tank and I've actually seen him get on top of one of the hides and jump towards it. It's not a very big jump, nor is it high, but it still could be enough for him to hurt himself I think. My biggest issue is that we don't really have good reptile vets around here. Exotic pets are rather rare in Bulgaria and good specialists are just as rare.

Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated!

My skink has a toe like that; he broke it at some point and it healed that way. If it really bothers you, you can see a vet. I'm not certain if a vet could reset the toe or not. As long as it doesn't begin to look infected (more swollen than that, pink/red) or seem to pain him greatly, it is not life threatening.

the second picture dose look a little swollen but dosnt look to serious. see a vet if your worried other wise i would just keep an eye on it. hopfully the swelling will reduce in a few days. I would move the thermometer away so he cant try to jump on it and let him rest for a while.

Thank you for the replies, they definitely calmed me a little :) I'm seriously keeping an eye on him and will snoop around for good vets just to be on the safe side. Thermometer has been moved to a different part of the tank, he doesn't seem to notice it now. And I don't know if I'm imagining stuff or not, but the toe in question looks a little better today.

Once again, many thanks :)
