Symptoms of being gravid?

Hi folks,

Back on March 14th, I found my male and female sunglows mating. She is normally pretty relaxed, and has a good size weight to her.

I checked on her today, and her tail has shrunk and she has slimmed down considerably, she's very skittish and agitated, and is reluctant to eat. I got her to take some meal worms, but she didn't eat a whole lot.

She was very "distracted" so to speak, when normally she's very food focused. I am concerned about the rapid weight loss, as I would imagine she would be gaining if anything. On the 27th, I thought I saw a small white speck through her skin, and my wife saw it as well.

We tried to take a picture, but couldn't get the right lighting. Does this sound like ovulating/gravid activity? I am having a hard time discerning between what could be fat bodies and what could be an egg, though it would seem a bit quick as it's only been around 15 days, and they would have to have mated at the exact time she was ovulating.

It is more than likely that they bred while she was ovulating...

Do you have a lay box for her? Maybe she is upset because she is getting ready to lay...

Female leos will often loose weight on their tail while laying eggs. They will often go off food around the time they are laying but then are ravenous once the eggs have been laid. Be careful to watch for this and feed her as much as she wants during this time. This is the best way to keep her weight up is by feeding her lots of good stuff right after she lays her eggs.

Where was this white speck? You can sometimes see the eggs formed under the skin on the sides of the gecko and can definitely see them on the underside.

You described all the symptoms of getting ready to lay.Is she digging her humide hide medium.I bet she already laid. When all of a sudden if she thins out it usually means she dropped eggs.Check her lay box

Thanks, guys. Will check when I get home. I had kept an eye out for egg development... but this is the first breeding attempt. So possibly I overlooked it. She did get very fat looking, and I kept putting her under the light. But still saw just what I thought were fat bodies. I will have to post pics next time until I'm used to seeing it.

I caught the other female mating with the male. She is still pretty much the same, though. I'll post some pics later tonight.

So no eggs from the other one. Possible it could have been eaten? It would be her first clutch.

Here is a picture of the other female taken tonight. I was thinking fat bodies at first, but now I am really thinking egg.

So weird to be new at something like this again, sorry for the newb questions. Appreciate your help.

I could get the contrast to come out where you can see the difference in the sides.
