Can tail kinks be caused by deficiencies in vitamins?
if so which ones if not what are other causes besides genetics?

I have a hunch calcium metabolism may play a role in some tail kinks. Perhaps metabolic problems with the parathyroid gland have a genetic basis, but I have no scientific evidence of that. Just an experienced theory.

I think thats what Marcia means. I am divided on this, I think it might be a genetic trait, but it could also be a problem before laying (from the mother, no genetics) or after birth (vitamin problems).

So should ones with tail kinks not breed? What would the effect be if they did breed? What are the chances the offspring will have tail kinks?

That is still unknown as far as I know. It highly doubt its genetic, but if it is, the offspring may also get the trait. I personally would breed a gecko that I know was not kinked from genetics. If the parents also have kinks, I would end that bloodline there.

well i was just wonderin because i have one spectacularly "unique" female with a slight tail kink that i want see if her traits are dominant or recessive.

What kind of female do you have? We may be able to help answer your question. Or do you want to see if her tail kink is dominant or recessive?

If I recall correctly I think most people see reduced or stopped tail kinking when they out cross. So if that is the case it would be genetic. However, I still would not rule out that it is possible from lack or over supplementation, or like Marcia said, the geckos inability to metabolize supplements.

this is kinda an old pic but her spots are slightly different especially the ones on her head and i wanted to see if this was a dom or rec trait. But she has a slight tail kink at the end of her tail that you cant see here.

but it isn't, the spots on the back are abnormally small and the spots on the head are very "leopardy" and it has a lil bit of abnormal patterning towards the tip of the tail now. (this was an old pic)

I've seen tail kinks in wc relatives of Leopards so I see no reason why a line should end because of a tail kink. Whatever it is it is definately a complicated pathway and no simple one gene thing. Although I suppose it's possible if cirtain conditions are met maybe a gene could end up making a difference.

Everyone has their own opinion on tail kinks and breeding. The way I see it, if it doesn't affect them in any way go for it. I have seen beautiful geckos that sell cheap because of these kinks. Now if a gecko was born with 10 toes on each foot, that would be different.
