Tail loss/ lack of appetite

Ok so as if I didn't already know that cats were the spawn of the devil (no offense to cat lovers, I just don't like the cats I live with) this past weekend one of my (daughters) evil cats knocked the lid off of one of our geckos tanks and scared the crap out of her so bad she dropped her tail. When I got home (had been gone all weekend w/ hubby at home) I washed the tank out so as to get any cat smell out of it and put Triple Antibiotic ointment on her tail. It's healing up fine now but my question is this, is it normal after something like this for them not to eat?
I know the tail is where they store their fat but I can't get her to eat, she's been keeping the roaches as room mates instead. :main_rolleyes::main_rolleyes:
I'm going to get some wax worms to spoil her and help to fatten her up as she regrows her tail but I just don't know if the not eating is to be expected or not.

On a side note anyone live in Ohio and want a new cat?? :p:p Sweet thing when she's not trying to kill your other pets, honest.

Dropping the tail was a deterrent
to allow escape but the stress involved from the threat, is not only
capable of causing loss of appetite....but can also
cause death, shut down of organs, or blood clots.
I would examine her underside for dark reddish areas, and keep
close watch of lengthy inactivity. Stay with "temping" feeding wax worms,
+ her regular prey foods.
Hpe she is housed alone.
Good luck. Take care. HJ

Maybe consideration to Higher tank
location, more secure top, or cat/gecko orientation training.
take care. HJ

LoL well the tank is on my new small computer desk up where the monitor is supposed to be so other then putting the thing on the top of the fridge idk where else I can put it that would be higher.

It's been a week now and she is moving around fine, the tail is healing up with no problems and she is very active. She just isn't eating :main_lipsrsealed: ordering the waxworms tomorrow though so lets see how she dose with those.

Depending on the type of lid you can get different locks, latches, and so on. An easy to use type (wish I knew what it was called) basically looks like a fancy "L" with little protrusions on the end to slide over a screen lid and hook in place, you have to push on them a certain way and pop them off.

Well it sounds as if she is coming along fine. If you feed meal worms.......try letting them feed on a end slice of
orange, peal side down. (24 hours) I've been testing food for gecko prey
and having positive signs with it. take care. HJ
