Taking mealies out??

I'm thinking of taking her feed dish out. She NEVER eats any of the mealies that are in there. She only eats when I feed her (with the tongs or dropping them in front of her) Even with a deep dish they are constantly escaping and I'm sick of rounding up mealies all the time

Also...she never eats much

The MOST I have gotten her to eat is 4 giant mealies and a wax worm

Any ideas why she never eats?

She hasn't lost any weight though

I was trying every morning. Now through the process we have gotten into every other day. She will only eat if I drop them in front of her

There have ALWYAS been mealies available to her in a dish she can easily pick them out of...but she NEVER touches them

I just don't know why she only eats like 3-4

She has regular bm's and urination

So I dunno

Since they're nocturnal you can get a better feeding response at night. I feed mine around 8:00 PM. If your temps are too low that could cause the lack of eating.

I don't recall how long you've had her, but it took my 1st leo at least a month before regularly eating from the dish. If they are escaping try a ceramic dish or one of those cheapo brown plastic ones with the top lip curved in. I don't have a problem with escapees.

Did you just not feed it until it got hungry enough to go searching for them, cuz mine has not touched the ones in the dish and so I have been having to put them right in front of him, any advice?

Tried the night feeding as well. Same thing

91 on warm side and room temp (70-72) on cool side so the temps are fine

I think a little over a month?

I've tried the ceramic kidney shaped one and the one I've been using recently is one that looks like a rock. Neither worked

I'll look for another type

if shes eating 3 - 4 giant mealies every 2 days, i think that sounds pretty good.

although ive heard that you should not feed giants becuase they use chemicals/sterorids/orsomething to make them big.

Oh ok...I thought she could handle more lol

I've done research on that and never found anything to prove it true

If anyone has some, please share
