I've rescued four geckos over the summer that have never thrived. Several had pinworms which were effectively treated with fenbendazole aka panacur from the vet, and all four of them were very underweight. None would eat. Since then, I have been struggling to get the weight on them. Temp and humidities are fine and I keep them on paper towels. I tried just about everything. Homemade remedies from pedialite and yogurt were messy and coax feeding was difficult. Most of the time they would spit it out. Reptile HiVite from Flukers must have tasted something nasty as well. Eventually I broke down and bought a powdered complete dietary supplement from ZooMed and again not much luck. They refused to eat it and force feeding was extremely time consuming. Last month I started administering SQ fluids of Lactated Ringers Solution, from my vet, which did seem to help and I noticed more activity in the tanks. Two weeks ago I found what is essentially Nutrical. Zilla makes Jump Start Caloric Supplement for anorexic herps, and by golly! My geckos love it! They lap it up readily and all of them have put on noticeable weight! Finally!! Now they are starting to eat live again! It's been over 6 months of struggling and meds but at long last I think these fellas are gonna make it!
