How long does it usually take to tame a new gecko? Every time I so much as look at mine he becomes very skittish and looks at me like I'm about to eat him

I have been trying to tame 3 in the past 2-3 months. My 2 females warmed up to me in about 2-3 weeks. My male who is about 3 months old is still quite skittish around me and it has been a month. I think it varies, and depends on the geckos personality. I would just take it slow. I talk to mine, and put my hand in the tank every day for them to climb on, so they get used to me and know I won't hurt them. I'm not sure my male will ever be as friendly as the girls?

Leos have individual personalities. Some tame easily and others are just.. well, nervous. I got two that has always been nice since i got it, that's why i'm amazed when i read threads about leos that bite, jump off hands or run-off.

Just build trust and don't force handle it or it'll make matters worst

I have a 10 gram baby that has been with me for about 2 1/2 weeks. He/she is skittish in his cage and tries to avoid being picked up. Once in my hands he is fine.

My adult male was pretty tame when I got him at a few months old. But would occasionally get spooked over something. Now, at a year and a half old he is big and laid back. Nothing bothers him. The larger they get, the more "tame" they seem to become.

Most of my babies have all been crazy until about 35-40g and then they become docile and lazy. I have a few that have stayed crazy and a few that were never crazy though. Like others have said it could be personality but in my opinion its more likely that the gecko is just a baby and needs to time grow up and get over its baby instincts to run from everything bigger than it that moves.
