ok, here goes:

i have a male SHTCTB that's possibly het bell.
i want to prove whether he is definitely het bell or not at some point, but i wanted to know how the tangerine trait works first...

for example:
1) if i were to breed him to a bell or bell hybino would there be any normals out of that pairing or would it be a mix of bells, tangs het bell and hybinos assuming he is in fact het bell?

2) if i were to breed him to a normal het bell i would assume there would be normals het bell, various tangs het bell, hybinos and bells possible. is this right?

The tangerine genetics are known as polygenic inheritance. Think of it many genes that all code for the same thing, and the more you have the more tangerine it will be. Example: 0= Yellow 1= Tang
Gecko One :110101101011
Gecko Two: 000010010101
Gecko One would be more tangering than # 2
As for the pairings I think you will end upmostly hets and the amount of tang will depend on the pair.

"On and off switches" are now replaced with "1s and 0s"? :D

If your tang is het bell, then breeding it to a bell woulc produce 50% bells. Then the tang trait would be outbred a little, so the offspring would likely have more tang than normal, but not as much as the tang parent.

a bell hybino would be the best pairing if you like the tangerine and bell traits.
