Tangerine with head spots? How to achieve that?

Hi all,

I am john from malaysia, and I am planning to produce a tangerine with head spots like pumpkin from TUG.

And ideas how to produce that? Currently all the tangerines I can find are those with zero spots and are all SHTCTB

Is there a specific gene for baldy? and do the clean hypo tangs come from a different line as those hypos with spots?

Or can both types of hypos come from the same clutch?

This is my female and I am not sure if breeding it to a SHTCTB would erase all the spots completely which is not what I want.

I am looking to produce something like http://geckoforums.net/f124-show-off-your-leos/94968.htm

I only have 1 high yellow with spots, but I do not want to make the color less intense..

If you want to produce geckos like mother goose it would be best to start off with a htct .. You will not want baldy or super hypo. There are breeders that produce these... Another option is to breed yours to a high colored jungle or something like that with some carrot tail, or another tangerine with lots of spotting but the super hypo gene in yours will be passed on the the offspring in varying degrees.

I'm beginning to think that the "clean" hypos with no spots are a different gene compared to those with spots.

( I really really love his geckos! too bad I don't live in the philipines...)

I realized only the one with spots on its head and body has got spots on the "carrot tail" area of its tail. The tail spots in general for the clean hypos also tend to be smaller and more "peppery".

Are they seperate genes that are mutually exclusive? Or 1 and the same gene?

I'm worried about the "dilution" of color. I'm not sure if crossing to a hi yellow will result in a more yellow animal instead of orange..

Super hypos are line bred hypos without spots on their body. They can have them on their head and tails tho. If you want one with lots of spots on the body you might look for tangerine geckos that are not hypos. I believe the firefox morph is a good example of this.

It will most likely dilute the tangerine color a bit. It will also give you a good place to start, if you want to make them quickly you need to start with htct's

I agree fire foxes usually display tangerine body color with lavander and spotting.
