So i bought a 40 gallon tank from a kid i work with for 50 buck. I tried to go back a few pages to see if id get an answer somewhere else on the forum but didn't see anything. So my question is, is a 40 gallon tank too big for an adult crestie?

Well where as i really know nothing about crested geckos other then floor space doesn't really matter as much as height and plenty of places to hide. But i'm sure someone that owns some cresties will be able to give you a better answer then this.

A 40 gallon wouldn't be too big for an adult, as long as they are able to find their food.

A 40 is fine for an adult I have been using one for over a year and my geckos have never had any trouble finding their food.

I agree with aboves
I had a male at 1 point in a 29tall with 10 gallon screen topper so pretty much 40 gallon. He loved it I later put 3 in it. I think you could fit 5-7 in it no problem. But even one should be fine!

awesome thanks for the replies. I just got back from the Midwest reptile expo in Indy. I counted about 5 cresties there, pretty slim pickings but i got my first one and just put him in a critter keeper hes still pretty small. Will size him up probably in rubbermaid containers till he is big enough to keep in the 40. will probably have more by then too:)

I was planning on doing a vivarium with the 40 as well, with separate feeding containers too so he (or she) is less likely to get some substrate in his(or her) mouth.

thanks again
