Hi all,

I am looking at getting a thermometer/hygrometer for my set up and I want to be able to measure the sand temp, the air temp and the air humidity.

I was looking at getting a dual probe one and wanted to know if it would accurately measure air temperature? my partner thinks a probe thermometer won't work to measure air temp but I don't understand how the probe will work for humitdity but not for air temp?

any help or suggestions would be great. thanks.

We just picked this one up at Lowes (also available on line at lowes.com) for under $15 and it tells humidity, indoor temps (ambient temps) and also temp where you place the probe for my son's ball python's tank and it is working really well. The humidity feature is really aaccurate and shows instantly the changes just from his misting the tank till the misting settles you can see it drop. I have the probe over his uth and gets an accurate reading and also shows the air temp in his tank as well. It's really nice that it runs on AA batteries which are easy to replace.

The probe will pick up air temp just fine.

The probe will only give an inaccurate air temp reading if it is sitting under a heat bulb, in which case the probe will absorb the heat and give a higher reading. If you're wanting the probe to measure air temp in a location with a bulb, place it somewhere so that it doesn't have the light shining directly on it, such as behind or in a hide.
