Termites are high in protein. If you could find a safe source of them would they be appropriate as a supplement to the diet of Knob tail geckos and other herps? Opinions Please

But would you really want to take a chance of them escaping and eating you out of house and home ...... litterally

Lets say the escape part is covered. That aside what do you think about the actual feeding aspect.

escape aside...
http://www.utoronto.ca/forest/termite/termcult.htm

sustainability
needing a queen that can live up to 20 years laying 1000 eggs a day
providing them with a large escape proof container (termite mounds get meters high and thats only a part of the hive)
keeping them fed and usable as a healthy food source (huge quantities of chemical free cellulose)
feeding a warrior rather then a worker and you pet getting injured (they would do way more damage then a cricket)

I don't see that they would be any where near worth the time/effort required to keep them.

wild capture would very likely leave you with some parasite/fungal/bacterial/environmental poison issues at some point...
as noted in the article I linked its a consideration for poultry (warm blooded animal) and fish farms very high quantity, probably in the hundreds of pounds of food a day range applications.
