Terrarium cleaning

I wash my leo's water bowl every day and give him fresh water every day and clean his poo every day but i'm wondering how often it is that i need to clean the reptile carpet. he is only about a month or two old i'm pretty sure so he's kind of jumpy when it comes to handling. i'm able to handle him, but don't feel very comfortable picking him up to put him back in the tank when he's not willing to crawl up my hand and will run away. therefore, it is a huge hassle to take everything out and clean the carpet regularly. what do other people do in this situation? help is appreciated.

I replace the carpet every month with a new one, but my geckos are calm and enjoy coming out of their tank

You are suppose to clean the substrate once a week, based on my research.

Switching to tile would probably remove the problem of having to take him out to clean.

Well this is how i do things, My youngest was a jumpy little bugger and when it came to cleaning her out i had little carry thing for them so i just put her in there or a food tub !with air holes! as for cleaning i clean mine weekly and i have rep carpet and tile.

fold up a paper towel & stick it in the poo corner
remove that daily & the rest can be monthly cleaning cuz leos are pretty clean on there own

Ive never heard that. I do daily cleaning to remove their poop, but you shouldn't have to change their substrate every week. Monthly is fine.
