HEyy does the mom or dad pass the dominate gene or does either or pass it??:main_huh: cause i was thinking ill use ball pythons in this case because im still learning leo's lets say i breed a Pastel male to a Normal female the Normal is the dominate while the pastel is a recessive now what if the dad was a normal and mom a pastel would the normal stil be dominate? or would it change on the account of the mom? because if i get a female Albino corn and a male snow corn wont a % of the babies be ablino het for snow because the mom is albino or it doesnt matter? meaning the dad can be albino and the mom be snow and a % of the babies be albino het for snow because albino would be the dominate or is it the moms gene which is dominate? and make it snow hey for albino? lol srry for it so long! and do leos work the same way as snakes? Edit- In geneteics i mean lol

Marica is correct, it doesn't really matter male or female, you just really need to know the genetic make up of what you have and then its all down the the roll of the dice to see if and when those traits will be passed along. Tis the beauty of genetics it's all one big roll of the dice.

thanks guys thats what i thought and then my mom says that the mom passes down the dominate gene in hummans and she said she thought it would be the same just cecking =] so example so a Normal which is a dom and i breed to a bell albino which is a recessive albino strain. ill get out of the 4 eggs all of them would be a normal with a 33% chance het for bell albino..now if i breed a normal het for bell albino to another normal het bell albino ill come out with out of 4 eggs
1 egg would be normal no het 2 eggs would be bell albino's and 1 egg for be normal with 66% het for bell albino if it is a het... then a bel albino to a bell albino ill get out of 4 eggs all bell albinos OR a Normal het bell albino to a bell albino would make out of 4 eggs 2 bell albinos and 2 normals 100% het for albino correct?? correct me if i am wrong lol

if you had a normal x bell albino all the first generation hatchlings would be normals 100% het for bell albino.

I think this is different genetics. Specifically I think she was referring to either maternal effect, the mother's genotype is the offspring’s phenotype, or imprinting, when the gene inherited from one parent turns off the gene from the other parent. It would be awesome, and very confusing for breeders, if a trait with this inheritance pattern existed in leos.
