The egg has gone soft

I have one egg that I have been waiting for for almost 75 days, and today I checked the incubator and it has started to turn a little grey on the end and is very soft. I candled it and you still see the embryo inside...seems normal. But the condition of the egg is not. I added a little moisture to the eggs the other day and all the other eggs are still normally firm. Has anyone had a similar experience and am I going to loose this one?:anxious:

One rule of thumb that I usually follow is, never add water to incubation material while the eggs are "cooking". If you have to add moisture, make a new batch and move the eggs to a new container.

Another thing, I assume you're talking about leopard gecko eggs? They are what we considered "soft" eggs, so I'm not sure what you mean...

The eggs in question are leopard gecko eggs and yes they are soft but this one specific egg has become very soft as compared to all the others. It feels like a floppy water balloon that is partially filled (hope that makes sense). I am concerned becuase I had hopes this would be a raptor.

I will certainly take heed to your note on not adding water and I did transfer the egg to its own container with new hatchrite. I hope things turn out ok. Time will tell.

I'm really not sure tho because i have 2 or 3 like that and they seem to be fulling in nicely. I'm not really having problems but with dents and i just fixed all that last night over 3rd shift. But the 2 that are soft are at about 23 days i would say. "I think it is because its going to hatch in the next 2-4 weeks. I also have 3 more that are soft but not very soft like you are talking about. And they where layyed 2-3 nights ago. So maby its going to hatch. I'm not really sure. Someone else might know this problem if it is a problem.

The color changed from normal to brown and then yesterday started to dent and then today started to smell foul. The egg was lost and I was bummed as the hatchling was black and white....but no red eyes.
