So yesterday we found a posting on craiglist for a Leopard. Thought it was more then likely not taken care of but we went and took at look at it. (not sure on the sex yet need to find out how we can tell) So we get there and the enclosure is clean does not smell and the markings are very beautiful. We take it home and decide to give it a few minutes and let it calm down from the ride home. We had a few small crickets for our frog who had been gutloaded with calcium already so we fed it a few and they were gobbled right up.

We are so happy with our first Leo I dont know how to tell if he is anything special species wise but we love the colors and it is exactly what we wanted.

Well enough talk here are a few pics.

Looks like standard colouring to me! Very cute, thank you for taking him/her in!

It's tail's a bit on the skinny side, but with some regular feedings that should fatten right up. Be sure to peruse the forum for info on feedings and pics of other geckos to gtet ideas on what healthy geckos eat and should look like.

In terms of sexing, males have a very obvious V-shaped pore line right at the base of the tail, on the pelvic area, as well as somewhat prominent twin bulges, whereas a female is smooth (no pores) and lacks the bulges. Do a search on the forum (or Google even) and you can probably find some pics that illustrate what I'm talking about.

Hope that helps!

while people are looking in here would be a good time to ask. How many crickets should i be feeding him and how regular of a basis. We fed it about 4 small crickets yesterday. Today we fed him 5 large crickets. It seemed like we could have fed it another 20 without slowing down. Thanks again i just want to make sure I am doing all of this correctly.

I just feed them until they aren't interested in the food anymore. For example, my geckos will eat for a while, but then they'll look at it, and move on. That's when to stop.

Drewhop...this may be the most exciting hobby you'll ever get into. It is infectious and incredibly enjoyable...so expect to get more geckos in the future, as we all do!! Enjoy.

I have already went to every pet store in about 30 mile radius. I will be going to a reptile show at beginning of June. Hopefully I can find a couple good deals there.
