Hello everyone.. its the new guy again. Here are the pics of the new crew I picked up this weekend...

Lighting may be a little off since I added it to the picture afterwards (didnt want to flash them in the face)

The big boy (aka Puff, aka Tank, aka Michael Ironside)

The young lady (aka Trinity, aka Asura, aka Lick)

The Baby (I think) (aka Pika, Zing, aka Snap)

Cute!

That last one doesn't even look like a Leo... Is that the one that was in the tank with the female?

Yeah apparently that little one and the lady gecko were housed together for several months.

Thank you to everyone that helped identify what the little one is. As far as its age I still don't know. From what I've been reading on Coleonyx type gecko's I guess this one will not be getting much bigger.

From what I read they do not generally need a ton of room. So the 10 gallon I have it in is like a mansion for it's size.

It looks like Coleonyx mitratus to me.. But those two species look very similar. The elegans that I have seen generally have move defined banding on their tails.

Hmmmmmmm ok a quick question lol. Why not state it is a banded gecko? I had to google it just too see what it was lmao

I find common names to be confusing. There are lots of common names for a single species. There is only one Scientific Name for a species. Makes things easier... for me at least. Wasn't trying to confuse. :main_robin:

no worries I found knowing scientific names help sometimes. I know it does when you are looking for specific info. Besides google and I have been becoming fast friends since I bought my first geckos in May ;)

it could be both??? i've been seeing more and more hybrid coleonyx these day's i think it's actually kind of dunb to hybridize but that's a personal oppinion... they also have different morphs of C. elegans. such as jungle and i've even seen a striped. i'm pretty sure that's a jungle. they are way awesome gecko's and a 10 gallon is plenty of room for a single C. elegans. very pretty indeed...

It's almost certianly a C. mitratus not a C. elegans.

It's very unlikely anyone would produce hybrid C.mitratus/elegans on purpose simply because they could make more money with pure species and most people want that.

It's important to know the species as banded geckos come from different habitats.

C. mitratus is less "arid" tolerant and should probably be kept different form the Leos.
