The "number" system.

Can someone explain to me what this "dewey decimal" type system is you use around here? I'm sure with a bit more looking and thinking I could figure it out, but why do that when i can just ask.. I.E. "I have 1.0.2 blah blah"

the first number is how many males, the second is how many females and the third is unknown sex..

2.1.3 would mean, 2 males(first number) 1 female(second number) and 3 unknown sexed animals(third number)
