Most people I know just do the air temperature. I only take air tempetature too. Hope that helps.

You should be measuring both; but since geckos require belly heat, it is more important that you know the substrate temp. The substrate temp should be 92-95F at the warm side, and ambient temp best at 75-80F.

I know what they should be but where? Doi take the temperature from the air, substrate, both?


You should do both, but the floor temp is very important. You want that to be 90-94 degrees or so. You definitely don't want your air temps to be that hot! I use a temp gun to check floor temps. My temps on the cool side are usually 75-80 degrees. I'm not sure what the best air temp is though.
