The tail kink!? (scary)

Why is the tail kink in an animal so scary? I myself asked the tail kink question when getting a gecko (picture made it look like gecko had a kink). Lucky me it did not. Now I'm wondering what the heck the tail kink symbolizes? I heard temp changes when incubating. Whats the true story?
