The Winter Cold

I just walked in my lizard room and realized that this evening's drastic temperature drop (22 degrees F) has brought that room's temp down to 65. So the temps in the tanks are about 65-67 on the cool and 88-90 on the hot. Is that ok or is the cool side too cold?

I just bumped their UTHs up so in an hour or so they should be up to 92ish on the hot.

I run into the same problem in the winter, the room temp will drop into the 60's. I usually only have add 2 75 watt red lights to the room and the temps will stay in the high 60's, low 70's (these lights are across the room from the thermometer). Some times I will have to turn on a fan heater for about 30 minutes to bump the heat up. But otherwise they do experience a temp drop from the summer to simulate winter. This helps for when breeding season comes around ;) .

In short your geckos should be fine. If they experience prolonged periods of temps below 60 then I think you may run into issues. Otherwise that is why they have a warm end.

Thanks Brian. I really appreciate your help.

It should be back up in the low 70s in there once the heat gets turned on, but that probably won't be for another week or two.

We will run into that problem because our racks will have to be kept in the garage. We live in Fl so it's not too bad but it does get pretty chilly here. I am a bit worried as well for the little ones....
