Thermometer troubles

Ok, well I tried looking this up on google but I couldn't find anything. My zoo med digital thermometer is jumping temps. It will go from 93.5 where it's usually around, to 99, to 90, and back to 93 in less than a minute. At this point I don't really know if it's even accurate anymore as the temps seem to be climbing even though I'm lowering them on the rheostat, and I don't want to be affecting her temps in a bad way.

Is this a battery issue? This thing is only 6 months old and I've yet to see any threads about the issue happening to other people. (Although there's a very high chance I just miss them lol). Sorry if this is common. D:
