Thermostat and Rack Question

If I get a Helix thermostat and us it for a rack system would I want the sensor in the middle of the rack, or closer to the top. The reason I ask is because I fear putting the sensor at the bottom may keep the top too cold and putting it near the top may make the bottom too hot. If this is dumb I'm sorry I've always used dimmer switches.

Id keep the probe taped directly to the heat tape (assuming thats what your using). And keep it at about 95 deg. Its more about the heat of the "basking" area than the heat of the air around it. If the room temps are around 70-75 then thats all you need.


Ive made that mistake in the past heating a snake rack I built. And melted a tub or two trying to keep the air warm..lol.
