Thermostat and temp gun questions

I'm looking into upgrading my thermostat. I've been looking on LLLreptile and the helix dbs 1000 looks like the best. And I also want to get the temp gun with it. Is it really worth an extra $20 for the laser? It seems like it could be pretty darn helpful. And I was wondering if I should drop the temp for the geckos at night time. Any help would be awesome!

there are many different thermostats that people use on these forums.

Johnson Controls Thermostat A-419

Ranco ETC-111000

Helix Controls DBS 1000

And there may be a few more that i cannot remember.

These are the higher end ones that will allow you to keep your

temps precise.

As for the temp gun, yes it is neccesary to accurately measure the temp

of the floor, if not what good is your thermostat even doing you?

Whether you spend 20 or 100, its important.


As for dropping the temps at night, i dont see it necessary.

Some drops temps in the winter and some dont.
