Hey everyone! Its getting that time where i want my incubators up and running. I have 2 old arboreal melamine cages with plexiglass window doors i used to use as incubators years ago for colubrids, and need to replace the old thermostats. I should have about 10 female leos laying this spring and wondered if i should just buy a couple hovabators?, or fork out the money for 2 new thermostats. (want one for males, and one for females). I'd like some opinions please on which route i should go. Also what type of thermostats? I know they range dramatically in price, just wondering what the majority uses on there incubators.

Hi Chad,

I sue an old polystyrene shipping box, with a heat mat and Pulse Proportional thermostat. Hold temperatures perfectly and 100% hatch rate so far!

Alternatively, you can use the water-in-the-bottom-of-an-aquarium method which also worked for me. In the UK Hovabators are very expensive, so it wasn't an option for me however if you can find then cheaper I'd say they would be better than the arboreal cages.
