Thermostat question

Is a 500 watt or 1000 watt Zilla thermostat better to use with a 1-5 gallon Reptitherm UTH? The Zilla thermostat has gotten good reviews and I'm looking to switch my tank from lights to a UTH. I know Reptitherm isn't necessarily the best brand, but it's pretty cheap at my local ++++++++ and I've used them on 3 separate hermit crab tanks with no issues. Thanks!

Either should be fine, unless you plan to plug a bunch of stuff into it. The watts are just the maximum load the thermostat can control. The mini Reptitherm is 4 watts, so you're safe.

Feel like I should mention that a 5 gallon tank isn't really large enough for a leopard gecko that is over a year old, and that mini heater won't work for a larger tank.

Ive got my geckos in an 18x18x12, which is about 17 gallons total! The mini is for my aquarium tank, which is less wide than my larger tank. Thanks for the concern!
