I'm a herpstat girl! The higher end thermostats all have pretty good reps. You should figure out what it is you're using it for, and go from there.

i'm using a herpstat now but am looking at others because i'm not really happy with it lately. It keeps jumping up and down and seems to have lost some heat I've been looking at Johnson's for quite awhile and will probably move to them soon for my racks.. They are generally cheaper as well depending on whom you go with..

I use the old-style rotary dimmers on my rack. I know a lot of people that would flame me for that, but the ambient temps. in the room stay within 3 degrees. I think they are a lot more reliable than a thermostat...and cheaper. Since I am in my gecko "room" 3+ times a day, I can adjust it to lower the temp 2 degrees if necessary. Just my opinion. I use a thermometer on every shelf of my rack, so I can make sure they are all the same, otherwise you would need a thermostat for each shelf. My problem with thermostats is that is shelf A has the probe, shelf 5 could malfunction or turn off, with out detection. What is the shelf with the probe turns off it would increase the temps so high. And recent happenings with highly respected members, back up my opinion.(sorry if I offended the person I was talking about, just trying to prove my point.)
