Thermostats for reptiles in general are kinda pricey because you need one with a probe that's fairly precise and more than likely proportional. A proportional thermostat controls the amount of electricity going to the pad to keep it a constant temp. A cheaper non-proportional thermostat will turn the pad on when it cools below a certain point or off when it's above - just like the one you probably have in your home - but won't provide consistent heat. I only have experience using herpstats which run around $120 each - a bit overkill for a single UTH. There are lots of on/off models around $30-$50 but I can't attest to how well they work. I would look for one that's accurate to at least +/- 1 degree.

I hope someone else can help you more than I can!

I currently use 3 hydro farm thermostats and they work great for me. It is non proportional so it will shut off when the probe reaches the set temps. When I set mine to 93°. The temps will range between 90°-93°. That works great for me. I never used any other thermostats but these hydro farms have worked well for me so I haven't had the need to try something different and they are $32 on amazon. Hope this helps.
