Thermostats

Okay so I just posted in the wrong forum about my Zilla Thermostat problem. I'm not going to worry about it too much right now since I can check temps with the temp gun and I am on break and around all the time anyways so for now I just have the Thermostat set at 84 and with that setting it will read about 93 in the hottest part. I called Zilla they said they can send me a new one if I send them in the one I have now but I think I might just invest in a new thermostat.

So what do you recommend for slate? I was thinking I might just save up and order one of the herpstat, they seem to be pretty good, atleast they better be for the money but I will have to do a bit more research.

Also just to see what everyone thinks, my cool side ranges between 74 degrees and 75. Is that too cold? What can I do to up the temp a bit on that side if it is too cold.

I built my own at first. Not actually a pic of mine but its identical.



But needed it for my fermenter. Whole other subject but I switched both my tanks to the hydrofarm thermostat. Never had an issue yet. There cheap too. Like 25$ shipped online



74 is fine for the cool side. I have slate in both my tanks.

If the temps are uneven it sound more like a uth problem not the thermostat. Slate would help spread the heat out. What substrate u using now? What type of enclosure

I'm using slate right now, and yeah I read different temps on different spots where the UTH is and it's all different... Maybe I will get a new UTH and see if that does the trick.

Galyion, thats the medium/low right? That's what I have. Which size heat mat are you using?

Okay thanks Galyion, I just ordered the Hydrofarm stat and running it between the tiles near the middle of the pad is what I was thinking would be the best option while looking at the photos on amazon.
