thermostats?

what kind of thermostat can you guys recommend (i like the helix(proportional) but price ..and the johnson but it is an on and off which i was told by animal plastics isnt what they recommend for their racks) help please!!

Well if you want proportional.... I know helix had sometrouble in the past with thieir units malfunctioning but I think that has been taken care of in their new products. The Herpstat is also a good thermostat and runs (I think) a little cheaper than the Helix.

Eric, I use Johnsons for my racks and Helix for my incubators. I'm curious why Animal Plastics say that the Johnsons are not recommended for their racks?

We use Johnsons in our corn racks and leopards, they have never been a problem and always worked great. I wonder the same thing myself Marcia.

i called ap a couple of days ago and she told me that the on and off thermostats are harder on the heat cable than the proportionals so thats why i wanted you guys opinion(this being my first rack i want to do it right the first time) if all of you agree the on and off thermostats are fine for racks with heat cable then its good enough for me thanks
