Hi

I'm thinking of getting a cornsnake(a sexed pair). I've been reading up on them online from their housing, handling, feeding and care for them. I've never had snakes as a pet before and from reading on cornsnake it is a good beginner snake, they come in all kind of morphs, and are very easy to handel. I've learned from having my geckos that the best information comes from experienced owners or breeders, so if you can help me with any information or advice I would really appreciated. Also if you can recommend a breeder to buy from that would help also.

Thank you

Maya

Indeed, corn snakes are great beginner snakes. It's important to get one that has been well-started and feeding reliably on frozen/thawed prey. Some are sold very young, before their first feeding, and occasionally it can be difficult to get them eating. Additionally, if you're planning on getting a pair, I strongly suggest keeping them in separate enclosures until you decide whether or not you're going to breed them.

Here's a basic care sheet but if you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you very much Paul for the care sheet and advice. I'm planning on keeping them in different tubs to reduce stress and from what I've read its best that way until breeding. I' ll be going to the reptile show coming up this 12 Aug. in AL. to purchase them and if I don't see anyone that I like I may get them from VMS or just keep checking the Classifieds. Thank you once again.
