Hi, I've been doing some thinking of the season 2012 already, because I think I would need to buy some more geckos for my breeding projects. I would like to ask you for comments on my ideas.

My geckos so far:

Males:
SHTCTB Electric Line
Super Snow Bell Albino

Females:
Classic het. Raptor
Mack Snow het. Raptor
SHTCTB
Tangerine Red stripe het. Raptor
Mack Snow Enigma
Tremper Albino (bought as Hybino but she looks nothing like it)
CHCTRS Albino

I was thinking of breedingmy male SHTCTB EL to:
SHTCTB, Tang (she has amazing CT), TA, CHCTRS
and SSBA to: MS, MS Enigma and Classic

But maybe I could buy some more geckos and get nicer morphs in hatchlings? I will definitely search for nice SHTCTB to produce amazing CT Electrics, but the rest still seems to be not precise.. Please help me out with this

Thanks in advance

You mean to buy or to get hypo tang to breed with SS Bell? Bell Creamsicles aren't really common in Poland, you know :D I'd love it

Though on for me as you use different names than we do - a creamsicle is a MS hypo if I get it right. I will get MS hypos in my first season of breeding MS to SHTCTB, and then to bell?

If you can use the two you have you'll get all Mack snows varying degrees of hypo all het bell. But also get another pair like that, so that way after you produce very nice creams het bell you can out cross and keep the good tang colors and still get bell creamsicles

This means I need to buy more SHTCTB females (I still want my male to keep the Electric Line and breed with SHTCTB females as it's very difficult to get any of EL geckos here;/ ). This is what I was thinking of anyways :)

Thank you for your comments.

Any other ideas for the forthcoming season? :)

I think you should get a good male raptor or nova so you can make good use of all the het raptors you have. And dont breed you bell to any of the het raptors. :)

The only females you can breed with your male SS Bell are the SHTCTB and MS Enigma, everything else is tremper or het tremper. Crossing albino strains is a big NO NO

It sounds like you have a very large project starting. Do you have room for all the hatchlings you will produce? Your looking at over 100 babies possibly.

I know I mustn't mix different albino strains - I never will.

I am searching for suitable SHTCTB females so I will add these to my project for the Electric male and SS BA male too.

As to Raptors - I think this is a bit too much for me. I rechecked with the breeder and it seems I bought MS which is not het. for raptor. Anyways I thought I could use her for my dreamsicles (can I? I would breed her with SHTCHB)

I certainly am aware and ready for the young - I have been breeding dendrobatids successfully so I know that in such cases lots of space is required. I have a reasonably big rack being prepared (the one I own now is definitely too small), and I have enough space to make it even bigger with time.

To sum up our thinking: I will be working on three breeding groups, with two males.

First will be continuing the Electric Line with my SHTCTB EL male, SHTCTB females (need to get more), red stripe female (she has an amazing CT and beautiful tang colour)

Second will be heading to getting nice MSS Bell Albinos (I will use my male with my friends female) and MS Enigmas. This will be my light coloured group of all Macks: MS, MSS BA, MS Enigma, maybe classic female (she has also been proven not het. - when you buy a gecko they say she could be het, and then they say it wasn't :main_huh: maybe I will anyways mix MS and normal with my other male, will see - or find a raptor male to confirm if they are het for raptor)

And my third project will be just in the middle of the two - dreamsicles. I would certainly ask for your guidance with this, as I was thinking whis route to take to get nicest looking geckos in relatively shortest time, I guess 2-3 years is needed at least. Till then I guess mating SHTCTB male to MS females, and MSS Bell to SHTCTB females would be my priority for the next season to get nice Hypo MS as I understood this would be my base to creating nice dreamsicles.

Wow, seems a whole lot of work, but a pleasant one :) I fell really excited about this all, and huge thanks for your ideas.

Could any of you guide me with these creamsicle project? I have been searching for information, but any comments are always a big help.

Thank you again:main_thumbsup:

You can only make a dreamsicle if your mack snow is het for raptor and one of the parents should be an enigma because dreamsicle is a mack snow raptor enigma...

As for creamsicles you can start by breeding your mack snow to the shtctb but i think you need 2 to 3 generations to get a good looking one. Hope that helps.

Oh yes, this is what I mean - a Creamsicle :) I was looking at Dreamsicles while writing the post, and so I got confused :)

Of course my project will be a creamsicle project :)

I was thinking again of my MS and Classic females, and I must definitely make sure if they are het. for raptor (100% sure) before I put them in with SS Bell male so I think the MS will be included in creamsicle project, and normal.. we'll see :)

Thanks again. I am really happy to get so much info on this, as in most Polish forums the people are very reluctant to giving any information or suggestions/comments on genetics etc. which is really sad.

Find the best looking Tangerines you can and breed them to a Mack Snow Hypo. You will have to line breed for a few generations to get good looking cremesicles. Good Luck!

Hi again.. long time no see, lots of work, finishing some of my projects, getting to start new ones
etc.
Now, after some time I think I have some really good news - my MS Bell Albino is actually... a female :D I bought her so small she was hard to sex, now at 6 months she is still quite small but chubby already with great calcium sacs (or how do you call it in English?). Nevertheless this makes me think I really HAVE TO go for Creamsicles with my astonishingly beautiful SHTCTB Electric Line male :D
As to my other findings - my Classic female id actually.. a Hypo or even a SH.. male :D sexing is one thing, but she looked just like a classic, when I bought her, maybe too orange but who would have cared :D Now I think I will breed all my females to this one pretty boy, sell MS female and additional hypo male, and go for Creamsicles only.

Thank you for your previous advice - it helped me a lot now when preparing for the season.

Best wishes
