My sister has a friend that got a python over christmas, when i asked my sis what type it was she said her friend didnt know, possibly a childrens pythen.
It sounded like she hadnt a clue how to care for it and when i was told how she was going to keep it i was pretty shocked and out of kindness and pitty for the poor snake i wrote out a care sheet, i don't keep snakes but being passionate about reptiles has led me to pick up info on many different species over the years.
I gave the care sheet to my sis who in turn gave it to her friend. it sounded like she was going to do the right thing and follow my advice and give the pythin a decent life....untill now.
I just heard that she is keeping the snake in the polystyrene boxit came in with a heat mat underneath it, she is using bark as substrate and i hear it has no water..... at this rate it would be lucky to last anothr week at most.
WTH? why do people insist on getting animals they simply know nothin about and seem not to have any interest in doing the research? when i first heard why she wanted a snake i coulndt help but lough and shake my head. She wanted a snake.... becouse they feel cool. aparently she touched a snake at a reptile zoo once. This is a grown woman who got and is neglecting this poor snake and despite me taking the time to help her out has done nothing i suggested.
I call people like this the "handbag & shoe generation". like some woman who buy shite loads of shoes and or handbags and the moment they get bored with it, it gets thrown out and they go and buy another. They do the same with animals, ive seen it too many times, allot of the times these animals either die or get dumped in the woods somewhere.
Really sparks me up...
Just wanted to vent. cheers-
