would it be just as good to use a 12 quart? the size difference is mostly hieght? 12 quart: 16 3/8 X 11 1/2 X 5 7/8
15 quart:17 X 11 1/8 X 6 3/8
I had been using big ones, 16 X 24 but didnt know if I could use smaller or not lol.
I use a 22x17x7, I think that just because you can provide minimal space does not mean you have to only provide the bare minimum.
So yes you can use a 12-15 quart but you can also give them more space to provide them with more than 1 little humid and 1 cool hide, foot water etc. You can get more creative with a larger bin and give them a few hides etc.
15's mostly, but some in the 80+ range get the 32 qt suite I have plenty of room to use larger tubs if needed, but 15's do the job nicely until they start needing a lay box(I use large ones because I am a nice guy to my leos)
I use 32 qt for breeding groups of 2 or 3 adults, but I find a 15 qt for individual adults or 2 juveniles is perfect. The same AP rack can hold both so it makes it easy to configure the amount of 15 qt or 32 qt tubs you need based on your collection.
My adults are housed individually in the Sterilite 1754s. When I pair them up for breeding, I'll usually just put the male in the female's tub for a few days to a week. Even if things are a little cramped with two geckos in there for that period of time, I figure it's less stress on the female than moving her to a different [larger] tub anyway. I could put adults in the 32 qt version of that tub, but I think it's really just wasted space and more paper towel to change out.
I use 16 qt. sterlites. I am not sure the number, but I really like them. They aren't as common as 15 qt., the only place that sells them that I know of, is target.
