After doing some research and building a vivarium, I took my daughter to The Serpentarium today and surprised her by finally getting her a Gecko. Her name is Sandy, she's eating well and seems to enjoy exploring her new home. Thanks to everyone on this forum for providing excellent information and thanks to Lizard Landscapes for tips on a fun DIY build. Here's a picture of her as well as a pic of her new hangout.

thanks for the comments!

The Hides are made from carving and gluing styrofoam, then coating it with several thin layers of unsanded grout, then several thin layers of Mod Podge. the final coat was thicker and had sand sprinkled into it. It was easy (but messy) and very fun. see lizard-landscapes.com to see where I learned it.

thanks,

Over 150? Dang!

Isn't that the funny thing about having kids? As a parent you intend to expose them to all kinds of new things and they turn around and do it right back at you! Before I became a parent, I didn't see this coming but I sure do enjoy it.
