The link doesn't work anymore. Perhaps the animal died before he was able to sell it?

Thats just awfult :( . It makes me so mad when people don't take care of their animals :main_angry: . I'm glad that you wrote them, and I hope it was in time to save the poor gecko.

That is brutal, the poor animal is skin and bones. I guess that is what you call an uninformed owner and poor husbandry. I guess the petstores should be required to supply a care sheet with every animal sold.

Poor kiddo.

Er... how big are these 12-15 crickets you're feeding a day? I've never seen a gecko eat more than 8 in a day, and only on rare occasions... that's a lot of crickets!

poor little leo, hopefully the owner gets it nice and fat and then sells it, i cant believe someone would let their leo get that skinny, how in the world would it survive the shipping?!?!

no, but i seen the ad within 20 minutes of them posting it, replied, and it was gone 5 minutes later. the problem is they are the only ones with the power to save it. if someone else takes it i fear the stress from the move will be too much to handle and it will die. i mean, i have 2 adults here for 2 and 1/2 weeks and they still barely eat and that worries me enough with them being healthy, but on a positive note i have a 10 gram male that has been eating 12 mealworms everyday since i brought him home, he eats them within 20 minutes of the lights going out, and he doesnt give me any trouble to hold him. i take him out 30 minutes every morning and he never even screamed at me lol hes gonna be a good one :D

This is really upsetting, I go to a local pet shop to get my crickets and worms each week... I'm quite particular about which crickets as they only sell big black ones and because mine are only babies I only feed them small brown crickets. Anyway they mixed up my order one week and said that I should just feed them the big black ones, I was a bit confused by this and said did they look after geckos themselves then as couldn't see any on show, they then took me to this "back room" where the reptiles were, there was this baby gecko in this TINY cage, and she grabbed it out (even though was asleep), and showed her/him to me - it's tail was SO skinny but apparently it means the gecko is healthy??? I really wanted to get the gecko but tbh dont have the room and was also told you shouldn't try and "save" geckos because they will probably die anyway and you're only funding the pet shop? Horrible people

I am not sure that the little thing can survive shipping but if someone local could talk the owmers into giving it to them, it still has a chance. We have a rescue that was 18 grams ( she was a year old the breeder said) when we rescued her. She ended up having gastroenteritis and a horrible case of pin worms. I had to feed her Marcias slurry for almost 2 months and the vet cost me a small fotune but my baby girl after 9 long months of babing her along has hit 48 grams!!!! I know thats not big for a gecko but it is great for her. She is eating lobster roaches daily and is the most lovable little girl. It makes me so mad that people get animals and don't bother to research them. I am sorry but most places have libraries where you can go and read about an animal or if they don't have a book on them most libraries have computers that you can use to get information. It may be "just" a reptile but it is capable of feeling pain and I cannot imagine that starvation would be a nice way to die.

Well it's only a couple miles away and if you think that theres a chance the gecko could be saved then I'll definitely have a chat with my BF about getting him/her. I spent most of my time worrying I'm doing something wrong by my geckos and even though they're completely happy and I look after them perfectly (I think) I still worry. I also spent months researching them before getting them.

It was ALOT of money and effort to save my Akasha but after it has all been said and done- she was worth every penny and every minute of worry. In these situations you can never be sure that the little one would make it but I am one of those suckers that has to try. I won't buy a sick animal from anyone because I don't want them to profit from an animals misery but if I can get them to give it away.....I personaly have to try. You don't always win in these situations. unfortunatly sometimes no matter how hard you try they just don't pull through. I am a giant sucker and I read your post and called my hubby and asked if we could possibly take it. He said not this time.

I am too, but the pet shop seemed to think that he was healthy and that there was nothing wrong and even I (new to the Gecko world) could tell he was in critical condition, there wasn't any source of heat and he didn't even have a hide to sleep under? I don't really want to buy him (even though he's only £35) simply for the fact that I'll be funding their ways but I don't want to just leave him?
