Its wrong because you never, EVER, hear anything about anoles or other lizards being healthy for your lizard to eat. And this wasnt for feeding, this was specifically to entertain people. I feed mealies, waxies, and sometimes pinkies to my lizards, but still, its not for entertainment, its to have them gain some needed weight or as a staple food basis, to SURVIVE, not entertain.

People feed live animals to BD's all the time, crickets, pinkies, etc. What makes this any more wrong? I don't agree with it, but it's not wrong.

i agree with you. ive seen people feed green house geckos to beardies before.
suposably theres a certain protein thats extremely good for their liver and heart. Same with pinkies and small mice.

I dont agree with feeding on other pets for entertainment. but its not wrong for animals to eat other animals

I enjoy watching my leos eating their supers, is that wrong. I find it entertaining to watch hatchlings that are learning to hunt, is that wrong? I'm sure Beardies come across all kinds of other smaller lizards in the wild and would eat them just as that one did.

Would I feed my leos another lizard? NO, but that's cause it would hurt my feeling too much to do it, not that I would feel it's wrong.

I have taken pics and videos of my leos, tort, RES, cresites eating, and yes I have shared it. I took videos of the first time I fed my leo a pinky. I don't see what wrong.

Who's to say this guy didn't look into info on feeing his beardie a small lizard, who's to say that he didn't want to add a variety to his diet. The anole was not too big and was a safe size feeder. Again I don't see anything wrong.

If you can honestly say you've never fed your herp a food and enjoyed watching, then sure call it wrong. I think we all enjoy watching our herps eat live food.

But would you tape all this to show to a large population simply to look cool with your omnivorous doom lizard?
I've been tempted to get video of my Leo's feeding to put on my website. I see nothing wrong with it. There is no reason to get all mad at the person just because he posted it on YouTube. As Felicia said, maybe they did their research and really looked into it. I don't see it as a bad thing.

I have no herps big enough to eat another lizard and even if i did it still seems wrong just to kill a lizard that could be cared for or loved by someone else just to entertain someone, or even feed your lizard for 'variety'.

What do you own and what do you feed it? Are your feeders alive?

My son woudn't talk to me for a week when I changed from crix to mealies, cause in second grade they were given pet mealies to grow up. So since he thought it was wrong should I not feed them to my leos?

Should someone that owns snakes not feed mice because someone could have kept that mouse and loved it as a pet? This is not a right or wrong issue, this is more of would you feel bad doing it issue.

LOL

It would be funny as hell if theres a mealie forum somewhere in the world. were a bunch of geeks gather around to talk about their worm morphs and take posing pictures. :main_laugh:

Im 100% sure they'd be cursing and saying radical things about us right about now.

anyways, its all part of the food chain. theres a reason why anoles are 2 bucks at the petstore and beardies are 120bucks. the less important tend to get eatin in nature. Kind of like vegitartians...i didnt climb to the top of the food chain to eat parsly throughout my life.

Rats are BY FAR the healthiest, nutritious food for snakes and are also concidered one of the best pets to own. Where I never fed my Rat Breeders to my snakes even once they died, I fed everyone of there offspring to my snakes. At first I felt like crap because of how nice the parents were but it made it easier when I tried to pick up a baby once and the mother took my finger down to the bone haha. but I deserved it.

but feeding anoles is done all the time. Especially to ring neck snakes and other such animals that wont accept other forms of food. Anoles appeal to a lot of reptiles, and if they're c.b. can be a good feeder. Where as if he fed the b.d. a w.c. anole then yes that would be stupid, and a bad decision.

I personally dont think it's wrong, just because I have fed my Giant Day Gecko a House Gecko before. I thought it would be cool and he loved it! I am thinking of getting a pair to breed just for feeding. If you think about it that is one reason why people get snake because of the feeding (and if you have ever seen rode trip you know what I mean.) they think it i really cool to see.

Hi all,
I just thought I'd add that although I don't see anything wrong with feeding an anole to a beardie, it is dead wrong that there are any health benefits from doing so. In fact almost 90% of anoles are wild caught specimens & freakin loaded with parasites and diseases. :main_thumbsup:

Anoles are commonly sold as feeders. When I worked at a pet shop people would buy them in bulk to feed to there reptiles and snakes. I don't think it is very smart because there are better feeders to choose from but in the wild they would be eaten by reptiles and snakes. I used to have pet rats before I got into snakes. They do make very good pets, although very messy lol. I had to stop keeping rats as pets because rats that were bought as feeders would always some how end up miraculously in the pet rat cage and Hubby started to get annoyed.
