Hi, I have a tiger monkey legged frog and since I got him, he has only eaten once and is hardly moving and I am really worried since he only moves when i handle him which i don't like to do. also i looked on the internet and one care sheet said the frog had to be kept in very dry conditions and the other said to keep him in 80 percent humidity. does anyone know the actual conditions and what is the frog's behaviour? I am not sure if it is normal for him to be so inactive please any advice would be much appreciated. thanks!

Which species do you have, Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis, Phyllomedusa tomopterna, or Phyllomedusa azurea? All Phyllomedusines are nocturnal and will not be active until it is dark, and many individuals tend to be a bit shy when being watched, especially if they are recent imports. They should not be handled unless absolutely necessary, that can be a major source of stress for them.

Let me know which species you have and I can point you in the right direction for care, but as far as behavior goes it sounds pretty typical, they are not active, personable frogs like a White's or Cuban. As long as it is maintaining good body weight I wouldn't worry too much about not seeing it eat.

It's a bad link as an image, if you right click on it and open it in a new tab it opens his facebook photo album. Here's the photo(s) of the frog.

Given my inclination to yell about some of what I am seeing in the photos and anyone buying any animal that they don't even know the species of I am just going to back away slowly and stifle my urges in those directions. It's just less work for the mods if I don't contribute.

Good luck to those who might be more inclined to help.
