Tile for 10g setup

Hello everyone, I've been looking at various substrates for my 10 setup. I decided to go with tile. I went to Lowes and got a 18x18 tile. They cut it to my measures of 9 5/8" for free. Out the door it was $7. 40. Not bad! I think it looks better than paper towel, and easy to clean up.

How hot is yours getting on the heated side? Mine is up to like 98 degrees. I'm just using a uth. So far my gekos seems to really like it. I just hope that's not too hot.

Is that linoleum tile or the hard ceramic type? What wattage of UTH are you using?

It's hard ceramic tile. I was surprised how well it heated up. I thought because it was so thick, that it wouldn't. But so far so good.

If you think it is getting too hot you can put a paper towel or two between the bottom of the tank and the tile to insulate it a little bit.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wondered if that would work. So far its staying in the middle 90's.
