Tile for a 20 gallon long

Sorry if this has been posted, but I can't seem to find it.
For a standard 20 gallon long tank, what are the size and number of tiles I need to buy?
I saw it once..I think it said 2 6x6 and something else.

You could do it with 10 6x6, 1 12x12 and 6 6x6, or 2 12x12 and 2 6x6.

i did 2-12x12's on the outsides and 2-6x6's in the middle.

I used two 12x12's and then cut a 12x12 in half. Worked very nicely.

yea jus take a measuring stick to home depot of lowes an pick out wut you want

Home Depot and Lowes will cut tile for free, so just take your measurements and give it to them.

is it better to have a rough kind of tile or a smooth tile? i have some smooth tile in my leos tank right now but she seems to slip a little. but i was worried that a rough tile would scratch up her tummy

Textured tiles are the way to go. You shouldn't worry about scratching their stomachs because they walk with their stomachs off the ground and they don't have a naturally smooth habitat in the wild either (really no animals do).

I used 2 12 x 12 over sand and it left about a 5 inch space left on the side, so I just put paper towel over the remaining sand... He likes going to the bathroom on the paper towel side so I just leave it that way.
