Tile for standard 15 gallon terrarium

Hey all, I'm looking to maybe upgrade my Leo's flooring from repti carpet to tile. I'm afraid she might not like walking on it because of her tiny claws maybe getting caught in the threads as she walks. Besides I hear that tile is a more natural feeling for them.
Does anyone know the inside area of a standard 15 gallon tank? I'm looking to find very realistic looking rock-like tiles that would fit perfectly end to end in the tank.

Any ideas would be awesome.

Hi, I think best is to measure the inside of the tank, that way you know exactly what you'll need. We just switched our two geckos from carpet to slate, and not only does it look amazing and very natural, they also seem to really enjoy it. The slate provides belly heat that the carpet didn't, which was bad. We have two 20g/long tanks, and we bought the slate at Lowe's. They are quite cheap, no big investment there. We went to Home Depot first, but they don't cut the slate, and the size they had would have had to get cut. So we went to Lowe's, and we bought the 6x6in tiles. They fit *almost* perfectly. My husband took a hammer and very gently trimmed the edges. It was only about 1/8in. It's perfect now, wall to wall. I heard that Lowe's will cut them for you for free, but I'm not sure if that's true.

I hope this helps. :)

I'm not sure if you can tell what the slate looks like all the well in this pic, but you can definitely see how much Camo, who usually hides at all times, enjoys the belly heat.

I just bought some really awesome slate tiles at Home Depot for $1.48 a square foot. Even found one that was a nice red color :) Like said above, Home Depot slacks and doesn't cut, but we have a tile saw, so its no bid deal. Just a little more work.

You can find the area of the inside of the tank by measure on the side and front, and taking the measurements from the inside of the silicon.

I have a 20 gallon but I use slate tile from home depot. Its the one where you would normally put in the bathroom and you can pretty much cut to size. I love it and very easy to clean. Here is a pic to show you. 1369565_4570020986873_2138077499_o.jpg

Lowe's will indeed cut tile for free, just like they cut wood for free. They're much more helpful than Home Depot for this kind of thing. I've used both of these services a lot!

And no, their little toes won't get stuck between the tiles, they'll be ok.

I am going to go to home depot tomorrow and look at this tile I was told about and take it to lowes if it needs cutting.
Do I put the tile directly on the glass bottom of the tank or put paper towels over the glass to protect it?

I put a thin layer of repti sand between the glass bottom and the slate. They have no access to the sand, so there's no risk of impaction. I think the main reason of "buffer" layer is to make sure the tile doesn't get too hot, and apparently sand distributes the heat beautifully.

I haven't had any issues with stuck toes. I think their toes are just too tiny to get stuck in the cracks.
