Tile Questions

I changed my substrate last night from sand to tile. I had planned on using ceramic tile, but I didn't feel comfortable after I couldn't cut it cleanly. I ended up using linoleum tiles for the floor. I also have reptile carpet on the cool side of the tank over top of the tile there.

My concern is this: Is it possible for the tile to get too hot with the heating pad under the aquarium? I noticed Artemis laying on top of the damp paper towel in her hide on the warm side of the tank this morning. She's never done that. She's always laid on the ground next to the paper towel.

Do you think the heating pad made the tile too warm for her? I felt it with my hand and it was warm, but not hot. The temperature readings were all normal on that side, but they're taken from the side of the tank, not the tile itself.

If you think that sounds like it's too warm, do you think an extra piece of tile on top of that will help cool the temperature a bit or should I look for a better heating pad with temperature control? If that's the case, where should I look? The local pet stores don't have much aside from on/off heating pads.

Sorry for all of the questions. I just want to be sure I'm treating my gecko with the proper care.
