Is it just me or does anyone else have problems with the UVB (ReptiSun 10) working on a timer? My light bulb will go on but the UVB doesn't.

Thanks,

Depends on the timer you are using. My GF was having a horrible time setting it up so i kinda simple rigged it, which worked out perfectly. But you may not have same timer as i do. If you could take a pic of it, or perhaps put a link to it maybe i can help. Another easy fix is to go to a home hardware store. Buy a plug splitter like 1 male that turns into 3 female. I used that to connect multiple day lights to a single timer. I know it is probably not PERFECTLY SAFE but the power strip timer says can support 750watts which i know im under that easy!

Other timer is a digital that says to set each day time and night time. That was one we where having a horrible time with because it has 2 days and 2 nights. All you have to do is just set 1 day timer that's it EXAMPLE: DAY on 7am DAY off 8pm. The timer it all its glory was JUST a circuit switch so when it turned off the day it auto switched the nights. Making it pointless to even program the nights. If days where going off, of course you wanted nights on.

I have the simple timer because those digital ones are not all that. Mine has two places for plugs. It is in a perfect circle & has a green tab to push in to make the lights come on & a red plug to push in to make the lights go off. I love this type & it does work well & it's simple to figure out too :) The unfortunate thing is that the UVB bulb doesn't come on but there is power going to it because if we wait about 5 minutes & lightly tab on the UVB it comes on. Hmmm. Maybe its the light fixture or the bulb????

The florescent bulbs have a like can that starts the bulb up, maybe the can is almost out. If you have to tap the light to make it go on sounds like the little starter can (a metal small cylinder) is probably out of what ever helps start the bulbs lighting.

Melissa I have a reptisun 10 (18") on a timer pretty much like you showed. I have had no problems with the setup. I also have a 75W bulb on the same timer. All works great. Good luck.
