Tinting

Hey guys, this may sound like an odd question, but..
would it be okay to tint the glass (on the outside) of my geckos cage in on specific spot? I want to create a hide for him thats tucked away in the corner, that is sort of sliced open so you can see inside of it. But I dont want these large openings to disturb him when I have a light on or something, so I was thinking of tinting the glass in that specific area? Maybe using something really really dark like a 10 or 5% tint?

I've never thought of that, but I can't imagine it being harmful. Id use the vinyl cling on kind though, and use it on the outside of the tank.

I have created hides with a window in the side for viewing. I haven't tinted the gap, my geckos actually like to look out and watch what everyone is doing. I don't think it disturbs mine, but I think it's a really good idea. I might attach something to cover up the gap.
