Tiny brown specks?

I noticed some very small brown specks that are on my gecko's torso and head about a month ago. I was not sure if they were harmful or if they had always been there, but over the weeks since, the gecko has lost weight and has been less colorful and active. He has also slowed down his eating, from 2-4 mealworms a day to 0-1 mealworms a day. I am taking him to a vet, but my appointment is in two weeks.

I hope that he will be okay between now and July 30. He is skinny, but still far from being stick-thin. None of the pet stores in my area carry waxworms or anything that could entice him to feed (I have already tried crickets and roaches), so I will probably try to get the ingredients for the mealworm slurry tomorrow. Do you guys have any idea what could be wrong with him?

I will post pictures soon, when I am at home.

Could your gecko have some type of mite? Could you post some pictures of the specks? I hope your gecko will be okay.

If you make slurry store a bit in a small jar (baby food jar) and put it in the fridge. Freeze the rest in an ice cube tray. Once frozen you can place them in a ziplock bag for easier freezer storage. Then you can defrost 1 slurry cube at a time when the slurry in the jar goes bad or runs out. =] You'll also have some stocked up for later if you ever need it.

I tried to post them, but they are very small. If you look closely at the closeup picture of his torso, you can see them.

Yeah. There were two pictures originally, one (the one showing the spots) must have not been uploaded correctly. Anyway, I just managed to get myself into a vet Thursday so he will be fine. I also got him to eat mealworm slurry, which hopefully should give him a little energy. Thanks for the tip about freezing.

In that picture he was 3 days away from shedding. I think the appearance of stuck shed was due to camera flash.
