My sunglow just popped out some eggs last night. One is well. 1/2 of normal eggs.. and the one is very hard and seem easy to crack open. I placed it in vermiculite hopefully it'll get better. They both seem to have the "bullseye" in em so hoping they're fertile. The little one... Im not so sure if it'll make it but keeping it just in case. (The other one is perfect size however but jsut hard) and the hide isn't dry either I just sprayed it before i went to sleep.

in my thoughts
I think it will make it but the baby will be small. Last year I bought a female that was young and was laying eggs so the eggs came out small so the babies came out small.

The very same thing actually happened to us, but our small egg was much smaller and squishy from the get-go. We tossed it immediately, but the big egg has already hatched a beautiful healthy little one, so at least that one was okay. Yours look good to me, not like how our mini-egg was. I think since you saw the bullseye, they are fertile and should turn out great!! Best of luck to you, keep us updated :)

Oh, and the female that laid our mini-egg is 3 years old and has a lot of breeding experience, so it wasn't due to her being a new female to breeding or anything. I just chalked it up as another variance in life ;) It was, however, her first clutch of THIS season. She has not laid any infertile or mini eggs since *knock on wood*

another egg question... my leo layed a clutch this morning and well I watered it last night. i guess it condense into a lil pool and my female layed the egg there... I believe it absorb too much water since it;s way bigger than my other eggs... will it be ok?

we've had a few eggs like that from one female. Her last clutch that she just laid was about that size. Her first clutch she laid was also that small. The first egg hatched a very healthy baby: small, but healthy. So I wouldn't worry too much about the size of the egg.

With the watered egg, I would put it in the incubator with some perlite (or whatever you're using) that is a bit drier than normal. Let the egg stay in the incubator for about two weeks, then re-moisten the perlite to the right moisture level. You don't want the egg to absorbe anymore water. You want some of the water to actually evaporate out of it.

Good luck with them!

PS- with the icky egg...it sounds bad to me. take it out and put it in a seperate container. If it smells REALLY bad then it's a bad egg. But you don't want it contaminating your other eggs.
