The other day, my leo almost lost a toe after shedding. When I noticed she had just shed, I put her in a container with damp paper towel for a half hour. The next day, I noticed one of her toes was dusky and sure enough there was a little band of skin around it. I freaked.
This time, I put just enough water in the container to completely cover the bottom, warmed it with a heating pad, then put her in there for a half hour. I then took a q-tip and gently massaged the toe. The piece of skin slipped off (hard to see though, such tiny toes!). The toe almost immediately started pinking up. I was so scared I was shaking. My husband wants to institutionalize me.
I guess I just wanted to share that. Just goes to show how carefully we must watch those toes after a shed! Phew!
