I need to transport my 1 year old leopard gecko 7 hours north. I live in Michigan and it's really cold and there's snow on the ground. What's the best way to move my little guy and keep him warm?

Also, I heard that I can put handwarmers under his house to keep him warm but I'm afraid they can burn him.

What I did to bring my gecko home from the reptile show where I originally got her. She was in a tub with air holes and I'm in IL so it's quite cold too. I took the tub and put it in my sweatshirt, my body heat was just perfect for her. Then, after I got the car up to a nice toasty level I put her on the passenger seat, wrapped the tub in a sweatshirt so it wouldn't fall or shift.

I would not transport him in his cage as the heavy items may move in a sudden shift of the car.

Also make sure to spritz the inside of the container with some water real good right before you leave and preferably once during if you are not the driver.
